Sat in front of the TV watching "Phineas and Ferb" with the young cousins, whilst the parents played Mahjong and listened to the explosions of the far off fireworks.
How'd you spend it?

31/12/2010
I wish I could’ve posted this prior to the start of 2011, but the lack of internet access has proven an obstacle. That’s ok (:
I never remember all my New Year’s Resolutions, but I always remember one. Last year I distinctly remember “Take more pictures, even of the littlest of things” – My friend asked why. I responded with “Because things change so quickly, and most of the time you don’t realise it.” It’s my last day in Malaysia and I can tell I’m going to miss it so much. But the one thing I’m glad is that in time I’ll look at the photos I have and I can have a glimpse of what I think was the ultimate holiday. I look forward to seeing my family again.
At the end of every year, just before the fireworks and the ushering in of the New Year, I never fail to getting a ‘feeling’. It’s either of welcoming a fresh new start and excited to begin anew or being held back and somewhat prevented from being able to make a fresh start. I don’t know what I feel this time ... but I think I’m leaning towards the latter. It’s just a feeling. Nothing significant... right?
In light of the New Year I will attempt to make some New Years’ Resolutions. If you’re reading this... keep me accountable.
- Be generous; give until it hurts to give anymore.
- Pray more, Read more; there is always the answer even if it’s not that answer you want to hear.
- Take more pictures; This year = LEARN.
- Be open to change whether good or bad; out of the bad there is always good.
- Persist; You don’t know your potential, therefore the only way to find out is to keep going forward.
There’s definitely more than this limited list but it’s a start and I think of the most important ones first. I hope you all had the best New Year’s Eve and let’s hope 2011 turns out to the be AMAZINGGGGG !

Et Cetera.
What up. Hope y'all are having splendid end of year events and had a wonderful Christmas. Throughout this amazing holiday with the WHOLE family (all 23 of us) I've thought "Oh I've gotta blog about that .. " and never did. But one thing I have to say is that it feels SO complete and whole when an entire family is together. It takes a while for families that hardly see each other to eventually warm up with each other and actually talk and bond. That initial awkwardness sucks and there are still some members of the family that I don't entirely click with but it's awesome when you really click with others.
Ewww that was sweet. Too sweet.
Let's talk awesome.
Well I finally got my DSLR and I have already snapped my way through about 1k of photos which I think is great practice but I need to really get a handle on M(anual) mode and get all ape on arty mode. I'm pretty sure I locked away my creativity in an airtight jar and it's pretty much fermented and warped into a disgusting piece of hm.. Dang... not typing for a while does things to my brain. I'll stop now.
I miss you all (:
Shout out to Harry, Emily, Nathan and James. You guys are awesome and "The Group" would be nothing without each of you. Happy Birthday (: ! I hate that I missed alllll your birthdays. Why were you conceived in the same month. Homg lol. What am I saying ... hahahahahhaha.

‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me’ is NOT true. I don’t understand why this saying has been around and survived so long when clearly, many situations in everyone’s life beg to differ. Bloody heck, words hurt. Some more than others and even if people say things that are so far from the truth ... they can still hurt. Basically, a speeding car drove past and I hear an echoing “f*** off, slut!” I know this is a stupid, immature and most probably a drunkard remark but dang, it hurts when you know something is directed at you. The next time you say something, ‘think before you speak’ is probably the best advice to give. I’ll be trying to too.

Honest Question, requesting Honest answer
Do you think you know yourself better than anybody else? Or do you have someone (mortal) that knows you better than you know yourself?
My 2 cents; I think I'm pretty much the only one that truly knows myself, whether it be that I evaluate myself too harshly.

Facing the facts.
I am thankful for the job I have - earning money for my independence. It's actually really physically demanding and working with people that gossip a lot and complain doesn't help very much, but that's ok - I don't mind.
The one thing that does bothers me though is that it's a hospital. When you THINK of a hospital it should be a place of healing and health, but sometimes it's also a place where people are left to die. I don't mean to sound "LEFT to DIE" ... I mean, people go there, knowing that they're probably not going to recover. The majority of the patients that are at this particular hospital are older, and sometimes, just by looking at them - they're sick of hospitals and they don't want to spend the rest of their time in one. But they can't move, they're fragile and they physically can't move. It's difficult. Sometimes I think it's a blessing that I see so many different faces that I don't remember individual people. I think if I did remember certain people, this job would be so much more harder.
I was so against euthanasia - I still pretty much am. The idea of someone playing god and 'pulling the plug' is not something that I follow. But seeing some of these patients, the way they don't answer when people greet them, the way they just LOOK at you ... is an entirely different story.
A tray of food was returned today (or yesterday)* to the kitchen with a note saying "Patient passed away." I went past that room, it was all nicely done up with the menu on the table, bed made and as if nothing happened.
This blog was REALLY difficult to write.

*my shifts feel so long that they seem to go over DAYS.
