No Envy, No Fear

“When you’re a little kid you’re a bit of everything; Scientist, Philosopher, Artist. Sometimes it seems like growing up is giving these things up one at a time.” - Kevin Arnold/The Wonder Years

We'll be Alright - Travie Mccoy

Found at LoveMore

Today I was reminded that I am still YOUNG. If things don't work out I still have my future. I'm terrified though, of falling behind and getting closer to the rear of the pack. People don't understand me and that's what makes this time in my life incredibly difficult.

Opportunity

It's so easy to go out and react in a vicious and condescending way. It takes courage and wisdom to stand back, evaluate and then respond in a way that not only saves a relationship but also resolves a black hole. When you're again given the opportunity that can make or break a relationship, think about what's at stake.

Today - Joshua Radin

If you've again made the same mistake for the 2817204th time and you want change, don't expect it to happen if you're going to perform the exact same actions all over again. If you really want change, something has gotta give. You have to do something that you haven't done in order for change to ensue. Don't expect change if you're going to go through the same cycle. Do something different.

In the light of recently events, being under stress and other such things ... I will write this here.

"Promise Yourself - To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk of health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticise others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble"

This cannot be more applicable.

First Moments of 2011

Sat in front of the TV watching "Phineas and Ferb" with the young cousins, whilst the parents played Mahjong and listened to the explosions of the far off fireworks.

How'd you spend it?

31/12/2010

I wish I could’ve posted this prior to the start of 2011, but the lack of internet access has proven an obstacle. That’s ok (:
I never remember all my New Year’s Resolutions, but I always remember one. Last year I distinctly remember “Take more pictures, even of the littlest of things” – My friend asked why. I responded with “Because things change so quickly, and most of the time you don’t realise it.” It’s my last day in Malaysia and I can tell I’m going to miss it so much. But the one thing I’m glad is that in time I’ll look at the photos I have and I can have a glimpse of what I think was the ultimate holiday. I look forward to seeing my family again.

At the end of every year, just before the fireworks and the ushering in of the New Year, I never fail to getting a ‘feeling’. It’s either of welcoming a fresh new start and excited to begin anew or being held back and somewhat prevented from being able to make a fresh start. I don’t know what I feel this time ... but I think I’m leaning towards the latter. It’s just a feeling. Nothing significant... right?

In light of the New Year I will attempt to make some New Years’ Resolutions. If you’re reading this... keep me accountable.
  1. Be generous; give until it hurts to give anymore.
  2. Pray more, Read more; there is always the answer even if it’s not that answer you want to hear.
  3. Take more pictures; This year = LEARN.
  4. Be open to change whether good or bad; out of the bad there is always good.
  5. Persist; You don’t know your potential, therefore the only way to find out is to keep going forward.

There’s definitely more than this limited list but it’s a start and I think of the most important ones first. I hope you all had the best New Year’s Eve and let’s hope 2011 turns out to the be AMAZINGGGGG !

love,

k.
