I understand that when we did school debates, we would 'belittle' our opponent and try and make our point of view look more appealing than theirs. However, in this case, IT'S JUST DIFFERENT (I know, I'm terrible at presenting my case). Each and everyone of us have our own beliefs and when one person attacks the other saying something that disrespects them in anyway - is not making progress in the discussion whatsoever. If both parties want to present their point of view, I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT CAN'T BE DONE IN A NON-JUDGMENTAL WAY.
On the same note, I see many people who defend their belief in intelligent design saying things such as "hahaha you are all going to hell". A 'holier-than-thou' mentality misses the entire point of believing in Christ in the first place! But that is the point though, none of us are perfect.

Is it really? I don't sit in biology lectures laughing when my lecturer is talking about something she is truly passionate about. I have the decency (as does everyone else in the lecture) to let her have her say about things.
Let's say you have something precious to you. Let's say you introduce your friends to this amazing thing that you have, but when you show it to them, they laugh and point at you saying that it's ridiculous and it's the dumbest thing that you have ever seen. Naturally you'd feel hurt right?
I guess I'm just sensitive. But I am completely positive that people don't need to put each other down in order for their view to be presented.
In all of this, no I'm no better than the next person.
