Just The Way You Are

I wouldn't spend the last two days any other way.

Yesterday I went to Uni, had a lecture and a tute,  pondered over the questions I had no idea how to do so constantly asked my friend how to do it, and then complained to another friend about how I didn't know how to do it, then came home and sat in front of the net. I checked my email and saw that JB was having a sale on TVs. Suggested to my parents that we should 'invest' in a new TV since it would be much easier to watch movies etc. PLUS, our cousins from Malaysia are coming over so we want something new to entertain them with. Turns out, my mum was in a buying mood and said "Let's get it." Whilst my parents checked out the new TV at JB HiFi, I slaved away at work offering afternoon tea, stripping (as in taking the food off the trays hahaha), setting up dinner trays, having a kick-ass dinner, collecting dirty trays, sending (through the 10m long dishwasher) and finally sweeping. Dad picked me up and I asked how "checking out the TV" was. He said "we wanted to consult you so we didn't get it .... yet". Came home, ate MORE dinner and at 9.30 randomly decided that since we're pretty much set on getting a new TV we should probably rearrange the furniture. So for 3 hours we vaccuumed at some mad hour of night, heaved and pushed furniture around, gawked at how much crap there was between the couch cushions (lol) and sighed at how much stuff we have (Just as an idea, we have 3 dining tables in the space of two conjoined rooms D:). We often paused and stood, hands on hips, visualising where things would go and how we could fit something into a corner. Finally, one room was done and tidy. The adjoining room, however, looked like some rabid hoarder had taken hold of our dining area and crammed all their 'treasure' into that confined space. At 12.30am we decided to call it a day and went to bed.

Today, up and early, I woke up at 8.15am - due partially to the excitement of a new TV and partially because I couldn't breathe because I'm sick. Dad woke up at 9 and we headed to Nunawading where we set out to go to JB HiFi but somehow ended up in "The Good Guys". Dad worked his magic and price matched the TV that we wanted, however she then offered $50 more for an extra 2 years warranty. Done deal + power board + screen cleaner + antenna cable. Turns out we spent $150 more than we set out to. Party time, loaded it into the car, drove really slowly over the speed bumps and on the way home.

We shoved the TV into the corner and opened the box, only to be disappointed by 5-10 intense, deep scratches right in the middle of the screen. Turns out, dad looked at the box and it seemed like something sharp like a screwdriver had been driven through the box, cutting the cardboard and the protective plastic bag and scratching the surface of the screen. Technology does not go our way. Thing is, is that Dad had actually learned from my b'day phone incident and had asked to open it in store but due to inconvenience didn't open it up in the store. Should've, could've, would've. Oh well, in the end, we called up the The Good Guys, the parents took it back and they gladly gave a refund. Finally, my parents came home with a completely different TV, spending $450 more than what we would've if the other TV wasn't scratched. Oh the hilarity. My parents were happy with the purchase and that's all that matters.

So we set it all up, put it all together, had to move it to a different place than planned due to the lead being too short and then plugging it all in, switching it on, scanning channels .. and .. Oh? What's this? Only three channels. Hahaha. So what happened was that of the 3 TV antenna sockets in the house, the one that we plugged into, is the one disconnected from the external antenna. Golden. So either 1) we move ALL THE FURNITURE AGAIN (death) or 2) we get a TV guy to come do it for us. LOL what more cost could be involved in getting a new TV?

That was a pretty detailed version of my two days, but I loved it. It was awesome. Worst time to get a new TV though - being 2 weeks away from finishing summer school and the exam.

On a completely irrelevant note, here are some pictures of Natalie Portman - Just because I love her and she has been my favourite female actress ever since I saw her in Star Wars as Queen Amidala + her stunning performance in Black Swan. If you haven't seen it go watch it !
